Tenants in County Down have had their homes upgraded in the recent kitchen and bathroom replacement scheme, funded by the Housing Executive.

A total of 19 properties in the Glen Estate in Newtownards had their kitchens and bathrooms transformed, along with significant electrical rewiring.  A number of houses also had new gas heating systems or boilers installed, as well as internal doors and focal fires in a scheme totalling £310,000.

June McCormick, whose home was recently refurbished as part of the scheme, said: “I’m absolutely delighted with my kitchen, which is now bright and modern and much more spacious.

“I’m really pleased with the quality of the work and the difference this has made to my home.”

Owen Brady, Housing Executive’s Ards & North Down Area Manager, added: “The new kitchen and bathroom upgrades have been a huge success and have made a great improvement to each of the homes and feedback from our tenants has been very positive.

“Our aim is to provide safe and high living standards for each of our tenants and we will continue to look at ways we can improve their homes.”
