Tenants in the Lenadoon area of west Belfast are having their homes spruced up, courtesy of the Housing Executive.

Work is well underway in the area as 47 properties in Phase 1 of the planned improvement scheme sees the installation of new kitchens and bathrooms.

In total, over £320,000 is being invested in the upgrade programme, which is being carried out by M&M Contracts.

Work will finish before Christmas.

Local resident Roisin Wilson’s Horn Walk home has already been upgraded.

She said; “I’m delighted with my new kitchen it’s really modernised my home, so I’d like to thank the Housing Executive for their work.

“Everything was done safely and it put my mind at ease.

“We were in lockdown like everyone else this year so it’s nice that as we come out of lockdown my home has been upgraded.”

Housing Executive Lenadoon Patch Manager, Declan McKeown, said; “It’s been great to hear the positive reaction of our tenants whose homes have been improved.

“Covid-19 has slowed a lot of this improvement work and we have obviously had to change the way we deliver our services.

“However, the changes have been made and we are once again back in our tenants homes providing them with modern facilities for their families.

“This is really only the beginning the resumption of our planned maintenance work and we have major schemes planned for west Belfast over the winter months.

“We are committed to this area and to maintaining the quality of our housing stock to the highest standards.”
