Christmas wreath workshop brings together Rossorry Senior Citizens

The workshop has a special meaning for members as it provides them with the opportunity to come together and make Christmas wreaths, which will be used to decorate the graves of loved ones. This programme helps to bring people together, relieve social isolation and promote good relations within the wider community. 

Rossorry Senior Citizens Club was set up around 20-years ago to help address social and other needs in the Enniskillen area. With approximately 40 members, the club meets weekly in Rossorry Church Hall with various activities, trips and guest speakers arranged throughout the year.    

Ethel Oldcroft, organiser of the Club said:

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Housing Executive for funding the Wreath rings.   Making our own Christmas wreaths for a loved ones grave is a special workshop and very meaningful to everyone who attends.  Of course a cup of tea, a scone and a wee chat is welcomed and the social interaction is all part of promoting positive relationships within our community.”

Housing Executive Area Manager Oonagh McAvinney added:

“The wreath making workshop has always been a special day for Rossorry Senior Citizens Club and we were once again very pleased to support them in this initiative. 

“It’s been a great way to be able to bring people together for such a special event at this time of the year.”
