Community groups celebrated at annual Community Conference in Armagh
Community groups from across Northern Ireland have been celebrated for their tireless efforts to improve and enhance their local area at this year’s Community Conference in Armagh.
Over 300 delegates, ranging from community, voluntary social enterprise and statutory sectors joined Housing Executive staff at the annual event to hear more about the fantastic work of local groups over the past year and share ideas for the future.
Information stalls showcased the many products and services available from community groups and social enterprises, while delegates also enjoyed a musical performance from Newry Indian Arts Club.
Jill Smyth, Head of Communities at the Housing Executive, said:
“Our Community Conference is a formal acknowledgement of the work communities deliver on a voluntary basis and gives an opportunity for community representatives from all over Northern Ireland to meet and network.
“We highlighted some of the great work being undertaken by community groups through a series of videos and guests were treated to two inspirational talks from Falls Community Council’s Gerry McConville and author Paul McVeigh.
“A huge thanks also to our other speakers Linda Watson from the Central Housing Forum, Colm McDaid from Supporting Communities and Eric Randall from Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful.”
