Granaghan & District Women’s Group is set to launch an inspiring new programme aimed at enhancing community wellbeing, thanks to funding awarded through the Housing Executive’s Community Involvement initiative.

A series of workshops and activities promoting health, nutrition, and sustainable living are being delivered, with financial support totaling £2,379.

As part of the project the group recently visited the Organic Centre in Leitrim where members participated in a specialist nutrition workshop and gained hands-on experience in Organic growing.

Additionally, three Nordic Pole walking sessions for beginners are being offered and the group is investing in a new printer and cartridges to support their ongoing community work.

Over 75 people are expected to benefit from the project, which targets both existing members and newcomers. The activities are designed to promote physical and mental wellbeing, encourage environmental awareness, and foster community engagement across age groups.

Sharon Crooks, Housing Executive Area Manager said: “We are delighted to support Granaghan & District Women’s Group in their goals to improve health, wellbeing, and community cohesion.

“Combinations such as outdoor activity, nutritional education and skill-sharing is a great example of what grassroots projects can achieve with the right support.”

With a focus on inclusion and wellbeing, this new programme is a shining example of how community-driven projects can make a lasting difference.

Deirdre Bradley, Joint Chair of Granaghan & District Women’s Group added: “This funding is a real boost to our group and our community. It offered us a chance to visit the Organic Centre and learn practical, sustainable skills.
