Tech savvy young people in South and East Belfast are developing cutting-edge digital skills as part of a five week educational programme.

Annadale Goes Digital, a project hosted by Belfast South Community Resources (BSCR) in partnership with Annadale Community Centre, has been given a welcome funding boost with a £1,650 Community Involvement Grant from the Housing Executive.

Local young people have been introduced to a wide range of technologies as part of the programme, which explores where their interests could take them in their future careers.

Chloe Black, Community Development Worker at Annadale Community Centre, said: “Our project allows young people to try their hand at the latest digital tools and technologies like gaming, photography, virtual reality, design and 3D printing.

“Each session is highly interactive to encourage learning and inspire the next generation to consider a future career in digital technology.

“Importantly we have also been teaching those involved about online safety and responsible digital behaviour.

“A huge thank you to the Housing Executive for allowing us to facilitate this exciting programme.

Lisa Hull, Good Relations Officer at the Housing Executive, added: “We’re proud to support this project, which is teaching local children vital skills for the future.

“Annadale Goes Digital is a fantastic example of a project that empowers young people, builds confidence and creates positive opportunities within local communities.”
