Community culture shines at Downpatrick’s Celebration of Diversity

Downpatrick’s Downshire Estate roared with life as over 700 joined together to celebrate culture and community on Saturday September 13, as local people enjoyed a Celebration of Diversity fun day, organised by Newry, Mourne and Down District Council and South Eastern Health & Social Care Trust.
The Housing Executive provided funding to go towards the event which hosted a range of family-friendly activities provided, including bouncy castles, arts and crafts, face painting, balloon modelling and a there was even a caricaturist capturing stunning images of those in attendance.
Along with a showcase of music, dance, and cuisine from around the world was held, reflecting the rich cultural tapestry of the local community in what was truly a celebration of unity, diversity, and community spirit.
Claire Crainey, Area Manager, Housing Executive stated;
“We were delighted to co-sponsor today’s event through our and as an organisation we are committed to establishing better relationships in our communities.
“Days like today remind us that our communities are strongest when they are inclusive, welcoming and built on respect for one another.
