Home Energy Conservation Authority Progress Report

Almost £36m was invested on energy efficiency measures through a wide range of programmes by the Housing Executive and Department for Communities last year, the new Home Energy Conservation Authority (HECA) progress report reveals.
Also highlighted in the 2022 report is the Housing Executive’s investment of £18.4m in heating and boiler conversions in 3,960 of its own homes.
Last year the housing association sector delivered £5m worth of energy efficiency measures including heating, insulation and renewable technologies.
Across the private and public sectors, a total of £7.5m was invested in energy efficiency and heating programmes by the NI Sustainable Energy Programme.
A further 11.8m was invested by the Department for Communities’ Affordable Warmth Scheme on 2,841 private sector homes, which was managed by the Housing Executive in partnership with all the local councils.
Robert Clements, the Housing Executive’s Head of Sustainable Development, said: “In collaboration with partners, the Housing Executive continue ongoing investments in energy efficiency and carbon reduction measures for householders.
“We are continuing to explore options to improve energy efficiency and decarbonise the residential sector, with the key focus to reduce the financial pressure on householders, the carbon footprint and improving individual health and wellbeing.”
