Residents of the Village area of Belfast are getting fired up about ceramics as part of a special project focusing on mental health and community involvement.

Mindful Markers, facilitated by the Greater Village Regeneration Trust (GVRT), aims to create a space for adults to engage with others in a creative environment and has been given a funding boost with a Community Grant worth £1,405 from the Housing Executive.

Zara Gregg, from GVRT, said: “Mindful Makers is a response to the growing need for adult-focused activities that encourage mental wellbeing.

“Our project was born out of the desire to create a group where adults can come together and connect with their peers.

“In a friendly, informal setting, participants have the chance to meet up and chat whilst also taking part in activities like ceramics and cookery classes.

“With the support of the Housing Executive, we have been excited to offer the opportunity for participants to focus on themselves, enjoy creative activities and build a stronger sense of community.”

Lisa Hull, Good Relations Officer at the Housing Executive, said: “Well done to The Greater Village Regeneration Trust for organising such great activities for local residents.

“Projects like these help strengthen the sense of community in our areas and have a positive and lasting impact.”
