A group of young people passionate about housing and the communities they live in have met for the first time as the Housing Community Network youth sub-committee in South Antrim.

Housing Executive South Antrim Area Manager Breige Mullaghan said;

“The inaugural meeting of the committee was held, and it was evident from the way the young people articulated the conversation and interacted that they were aware of the needs that exist, how the Housing Executive can play a role and how community cohesion funding can generate changes for the better.

“We, in the Housing Executive, are hopeful that this new committee will strengthen the HCN with younger voices, ideas and knowledge.

“It will also give us an opportunity to share best practice across a whole new section of the community and by so doing forge closer relationships between the HCN and the wider Antrim and Newtownabbey communities.

“I was very encouraged to see these young people so keen to learn about Housing Executive policies and procedures and I would sincerely hope that their time on the subcommittee with inspire them to become HCN members in the future.”
