NI Energy Advice Service helps 55,000 households and counting
A free and impartial energy advice service, which helps thousands of households across Northern Ireland, is celebrating five years of offering expert guidance.
The NI Energy Advice Service, managed by the Housing Executive, has answered over 55,000 queries since the service was brought in-house and offers a range of services including energy efficiency signposting, renewable energy advice, energy saving tips and much more.
One of the service’s many happy customers is Pat Simpson from Jordanstown, who, with the help of an experienced energy advisor, was able to get a full insulation grant to improve her home’s warmth and energy efficiency.
She said: “I noticed that parts of my home were becoming harder to heat and with winter coming I needed to find a solution.
“Thankfully, I was told about the NI Energy Advice Service and after phoning their helpline spoke to a lovely staff member called Nikki.
“Nikki was so helpful and gave me lots of advice on what options were open to me. One of these was a Northern Ireland Sustainable Energy Programme (NICEP) grant, which would allow me to improve the energy efficiency of my home.
“A company called to my house to carry out a survey and then did an excellent job adding loft insulation and filling the cavity walls.
“I really am delighted with the work and already I’m noticing a difference and that the house feels so much warmer.
“I still can’t believe that I was able to get a grant for the work!”
Caroline Connor, Interim Director of Strategic Housing Authority at the Housing Executive, added:
“Five years on the Energy Advice Service continues to grow and last month we provided assistance to over 1,500 households across Northern Ireland.
“Our dedicated team are here to help households with expert knowledge on everything from heating your home to making savings on energy bills.
“With winter on the horizon now is the perfect time to speak to our energy advisors and find out how you could keep your house warmer and reduce your energy bills.”
