Sally Mulholland scoops Housing Executive rural award

Sally Mulholland, Chairperson of Fox Park Residents Association in Omagh, Co Tyrone has secured a £500 prize as part of this year’s Housing Executive’s Rural Community Awards.
Chairperson for 23 years, Sally opens up her own home for community meetings, organizes a steady stream of community activities and will do what she can to help anyone in need anytime of the night or day.
Held this year in The Lodge Hotel, Coleraine the annual Rural Community Awards event provides a showcase for individuals and groups undertaking outstanding volunteering work at grassroots level in rural areas across Northern Ireland, helping maintain local neighbourhoods and boosting civic pride.
Annette McCarney, Housing Executive Assistant Area Manager Southwest area said, “The Housing Executive are delighted that Sally Mulholland took top prize in our rural awards Community Champion section.
“Sally has been at the heart of the good work that the Fox Park Community Association has delivered and it is reflected in the high esteem she is held in by the members of the community and those from farther afield.
“Congratulations Sally!”

Sally said, “Community means everything to me. I just love to see people happy and content living in their own space.
“I was very surprised getting the letter to say I had won the award.
“I would never be looking an award but I’m chuffed to bits that I got it.
“The Housing Executive has been brilliant to us since day one.
“We are very close to them.
“Support we have received has helped to create a wonderful play area and two community gardens.
“Our 2003 community garden was the first of its kind in Northern Ireland.
“During Covid I visited all the neighbours, the elderly in particular, and gave out food packages and vouchers and just made sure they were all ok.
“Fox Park is a very tight knit community and everyone knows me.
“If there is a problem they know to lift the phone and call me.”
