A fun-filled popular project funded by The Housing Executive has brought a record number of children in the Millburn area hours of delight this summer.

A Housing Executive Community Cohesion grant for £4162 was awarded to organisers of the Millburn Smile project who pulled out all the stops to give families in Coleraine a summer to remember.

Billy Ellis, Millburn Community Association Outreach Worker said:

“We are very grateful to the Housing Executive for the role they play in helping us bring people together in such a meaningful way in the community.

“Our summer activities included, a two-week long summer camp for over 100 kids, as well as some drop-in days throughout the summer for our older youth.

“Facilitated sessions included a visit from Casey’s Creatures, archery instruction as well as other outdoor activities and a trip to Rose Park Farm in Ballymoney.

“All activities boosted residents physical and mental well-being, tackled social isolation, and helped build relationships and a feel-good factor within the Millburn community.

“Our project gives local families peace of mind knowing their children have a safe environment with quality activities to keep them active throughout the summer months.

“Hopefully we have given the people of Millburn something to look back on and smile about well into the Autumn.”
