Over a million invested in thermal upgrades to houses in Antrim

A life-long resident of Newpark estate in Antrim has seen a significant reduction in his heating costs since becoming one of 55 properties to benefit from a £1million thermal upgrade by the Housing Executive.
David Moore was one of the first people to move into the ‘brilliant’ estate over 40 years ago and has lived in his newly improved flat for six years.
The local taximan couldn’t be happier with the work completed which included external wall insulation, new double glazed PVC windows and roof upgrades amounting to almost £19k.
David said, “Getting this work done was 100 per cent worth it for so many reasons.
The thermal upgrade and new windows has made a real difference to the heat in the house. I put the heating on for half an hour and it’s roasting.
“Outside the property is so much more presentable too with new extractor fans and lighting system making such a difference.
“I had a period of bad health a while back and I have to say the Housing Executive patch managers were very good to me then and have continued to be very supportive during this process.
“I was one of the first people to move into Newpark 40 years ago and it is a brilliant estate.
“Everyone in Newpark is delighted to see the area looking so well.”
Breige Mullaghan, Housing Executive Area Manager, South Antrim said,
“My team and I are delighted this scheme was completed in our area.
“We worked continuously with our tenants to give information and support throughout the project.
“We look forward to continuing to provide similar scheme services within South Antrim in the future.
“A big thank you to our tenants for their patience and I hope they enjoy the benefits of this upgrade for many years to come.”
