Celebrating Our Community Heroes: Volunteers Week 2025

This Volunteers Week (1-7 June), we’re celebrating the extraordinary volunteers who work tirelessly within Housing Executive-funded community groups across Northern Ireland.
From transforming neglected spaces into community gardens to running after-school programs and supporting isolated seniors, these dedicated individuals demonstrate the power of community action every day.
This week we will be telling the stories of some of our volunteers. Check out our Instagram and Facebook accounts this week to learn more about some of the inspiring people that live in our communities.
Volunteers Week may also be the week that you decide to make a difference in your community.
Our Housing Community Network is made up of over 500 community groups across Northern Ireland. Being a member means your group can access funding and support from us. It also enables you to help shape the way we deliver our services.
Our Housing Community Network provides:
• Access to funding opportunities for community projects
• Training and capacity building for community groups
• Networking with other community organisations
• Support from one of our Good Relations Officers
• Resources and guidance for project development
Thinking of joining? To become a member you should belong to or be in the process of creating a community group. Then email getinvolved@nihe.gov.uk and we will arrange for one of our Good Relations Officers to call out to your group. They’ll help you join your local Housing Community Network.
