Armagh residents enjoy community BBQ

Residents in Armagh were left well-fed after a community barbeque and fun day, marking the first of many get togethers for the whole community.
Westenders held the event in the grounds of Sherry’s Field Community Centre after a community grant worth £2,613 from the Housing Executive allowed the group to purchase the barbeque equipment.
Siobhan Murphy, Secretary of Westenders, said: “We hope to bring the whole community together on a regular basis now that we have the equipment to facilitate our community barbeques and fun days.
“We’ll organise events to mark special occasions or raise money for charities that benefit the local area.
“These community days are so important as they foster a greater sense of community and encourage residents to meet and socialise with each other.
“We are hugely grateful to the Housing Executive for the funding which will allow us to organise these more often.”
Mark Ingham, the Housing Executive’s Area Manager for the South, said: “Well done to Westenders for organising a great day out for the whole community.
“We’re proud that our support will help the group of volunteers continue to bring residents together and improve community relations.”
