Families enjoy Omagh fun day

Families in Omagh came together for an afternoon of free activities and food at a recent community fun day.
Volunteers from three estates, Shandon Park, Lammy, Strule and Centenary, united to organise the event after receiving over £3,000 in funding from the Housing Executive.
Pauline McSorley, from Shandon Park Residents’ Committee, said: “We were thrilled to bring our three communities together and welcome over 300 people from the area.
“Our hope was to engage with residents and encourage more people to get involved with our local community groups and learn more about the work that we do.
“Thanks to a Community Grant from the Housing Executive, we were able to facilitate a range of activities including a magic show, bouncy castles and food.
“We had such positive response from the community that we’re already planning our next event.”
Christopher Spence, Good Relations Officer at the Housing Executive, added: “Congratulations to Shandon Park Residents’ Committee for organising a hugely successful day for residents.
“Thanks also to Fermanagh and Omagh District Council and Supporting Communities for their assistance with organising the day.
“We’re proud to support their hard work in fostering a sense of community spirit and good relations between the three estates, and we look forward to attending more events in future.”
