Community groups across the Mid Ulster area came together to learn and share best practice at our Community Networking Event in the Killymoon Golf Club, Cookstown.

The event, now in its second year, focused on how community led projects can make a difference to local people.

Attendees heard how community volunteers were bringing people together, creating new services and resolving problems in their area.

Sean McPeake, Mid Ulster Council Chair, opened the event:

“We are very fortunate in Mid Ulster to have so many great community volunteers who add so much to the social fabric of our district. It is important that we recognise the benefits these voluntary organisations contribute to the health and wellbeing of our communities and district as a whole. The coming together and sharing of experiences and best practice at events like today’s can only bring further benefits and help improve the lives of our local people.”

Michael Dallat, our Mid Ulster Area Manager, explains why it is important to recognise and engage with community representatives:

“This event was a great opportunity for us to bring people across Mid Ulster together to learn, network and showcase the invaluable work they do in their community.

“The Housing Executive strongly believes in empowering local people and by holding this event we are giving community groups a platform to share their views, experiences and passion with us.”
