Omagh Residents group celebrates 25th Anniversary with community gathering.

In a heartwarming celebration of community spirit, the Fox Park Residents Association in Omagh recently marked its 25th anniversary with a memorable event, supported with Cohesion Funding of £4860 provided by the Housing Executive.

Showcasing the ongoing efforts of the local committee, the event highlighted the group’s commitment to improving the lives of residents and creating a stronger sense of place within this rural community.

Established in 2000, the Fox Park Residents Association was formed to tackle anti-social behaviour, develop environmental schemes, promote mutual understanding, and rejuvenate the area into a vibrant and more integrated community.

Over the 25 years, they have secured several environmental improvements, including a resurfaced football pitch, the opening of two community gardens, floral boxes, a picnic area with tables and seating as well as good neighbour events.

Fox Park Residents' Group representative, Sally Mulholland, explained; “This anniversary is a reminder of how far we’ve come and how much we’ve accomplished together.

“Our community house, which was provided by the Housing Executive, is a fantastic community hub for our residents.

“Numerous classes, training, workshops, meetings and projects took place at the community house with people often overflowing onto the street as so many wanted to take part in events.

“it’s a home especially for our youth and all the volunteering from the committee has helped in building community cohesion and good relations as well as greatly reducing incidents of anti-social behaviour.

“Our thanks go to the Housing Executive for their continued support.

“It’s amazing to see the continued support from the community, and we are excited to keep building on the foundations we’ve laid.

“Although at times it has been hard work it is without a doubt rewarding looking back to see how our wee rural estate has bloomed over the years.”

As the residents' group looks forward to the future, they remain focused on maintaining the close-knit, supportive environment that has made Fox Park a special place to live.

Helen Hicks, Southwest Area Manager for the Housing Executive said: “Fox Park Resident’s Association continues to do vital work for the growth and well-being of this estate and this event was a testament to the incredible community spirit here in Fox Park.

“It’s heartening to see such a strong, committed group of people coming together to celebrate their achievements and their ongoing efforts to make Fox Park a better place for all.
