Ballykelly had a beautiful summer’s day earlier this month to host their summer fair at St John's Church in the Parish of Tamlaghtfinlagan, with support from the Housing Executive.

Residents from all nearby estates were invited to come along and enjoy this cross-community relations event, which Tamlaghtfinlagan Parish Church has been actively working to encourage over the last few years.

A marquee was erected whilst families availed of arts, crafts and bouncy castles, which proved popular with kids big and small.  Hot food and musical entertainment was provided, as well as a fun farm.

Joanne McFarland from Tamlaghtfinlagan Parish Church was delighted with the number of people attending from the local community.  She said:

“We wanted people to come and enjoy our summer fair, and the response has been amazing.  We had over 300 people here on the day to support us in our efforts to train volunteers and local residents in self-development.

“This was our opportunity to promote Ballykelly as an area welcoming to everyone regardless of religious or community background, as well as encouraging people of all ages to get out and about and know that our parish hall is a real community hub.

“The weather was fabulous, and I think we all did ourselves proud!”
