Housing Executive tenants in 17 homes in Taughmonagh, south Belfast, have received new kitchens and bathrooms as part of a major revamp costing almost £750,000.

The total refurbishment scheme at Finnis Close included the replacement of all internal walls and floors, cavity insulation, new kitchens and bathrooms and new heating systems.

Properties were also painted, had new staircases installed, room layouts were reconfigured, complete rewiring, floor and wall tiling, and new double glazing.

Housing Executive patch manager for the area, Fred Reilly, said: “Kitchen and bathroom remodelling can be a daunting but exciting event for our tenants.

“Committed and professional workers have transformed these Housing Executive homes and delivered beautiful, functional and modern kitchens which are the heart of the home.

“In particular, new wiring gives real peace of mind to our tenants that their homes will be fit for purpose for a very long time,” he said.

“We’ve kept our tenants involved as part of the process. They’ve had one to one consultation with our staff to plan the layout of their new kitchens and bathrooms as well as choosing their own units and tiles.

“Well done to all involved and a big thank you to our tenants for their patience and perseverance. Thanks, too, to PCD Contracts and consultant surveyors Moore MacDonald for their hard work.”
