‘Housing for All’ Shared Housing Programme
The ‘Housing for All’ Shared Housing Programme moved to the Housing Executive in February 2024.
Before that, the Department for Communities (DfC) managed the Programme.
Our ‘Housing for All’ team is working to grow the Programme, make people aware of it, and build strong links with others in the shared housing community.
The aim is to help create shared neighbourhoods that:
- are safe
- are built to last
- help everyone feel included
This Programme came out of the Northern Ireland Executive “Together: Building a United Community” Strategy.
It was created to help people live and work together in a diverse and stable society.
The Programme supports:
- improving community relations
- continuing the journey towards a more united and shared society
We are proud of the work done so far and are excited to keep building on it.
The Programme works with 11 Housing Associations. These groups are working on 85 housing sites, with a total of 2,925 homes.
So far, 49 sites are finished and called "Shared". Another 36 are being built or will start soon.
But shared housing is about more than just homes. Housing Associations also work with 36 Local Advisory Groups to create and deliver five year Good Relations Plans.
These benefit people who live, work, or socialise within five miles of each new housing site.
The Housing Executive is the regional housing authority in Northern Ireland.
That means we are in the best position to work with Housing Associations to take this Programme forward, building new links, and helping more communities.
