Annual research programme

About our annual research programme

Housing Research underpins and guides the Housing Executive’s policy and strategy development and the organisation’s interventions in the housing market.  Under the 1981 Housing Order, the Housing Executive has a statutory responsibility to ‘regularly examine housing conditions and need’ and may ‘conduct or promote research into any matter relating to any of its functions’.  The continued emphasis on both evidence-based policy and on monitoring performance and outcomes means that there is a high level of demand for the research undertaken and commissioned by the Housing Executive.

Additional projects may emerge during the year; these will be assessed on need and deliverability and prioritised, as deemed appropriate, in consultation with the Research Committee, which oversees the progress of the Research Programme on a quarterly basis.

The Northern Ireland Housing Executive utilises EtendersNI to advertise public tenders for research projects.
